Begin with the end in mind,

See death as the final destination

Someone who long for a rejuvenation of childhood innocent in this world of hypocrisy and irony... Someone who long for a touch of love in this cold and heartless strange land... Like a fallen angel, heaven seems to be so near, yet so far from me... Begin with the end in mind. Think death as the destination, As we edge closer to it everyday I love you

..

what if this community here is just another Macondo, the settlement in One Hundred Years of Solitude by Marquez? what if we are indeed cut off from the rest of the civilisation, and this bubble here is the world.

..

a relationship is a struggle of powers and desires between 2 person. sometimes more. it's a game, in which there are ground rules and different players. and of course, just as any other setting in life, a more powerful player can always ignore the rules. it's about power, negotiation, compromise, and fluid equilibrium.

it's a battle of interests and lusts. and just as any other battle, gentleman rules and civil laws do not apply. and like a war, who's right matters less than who's left. the end is more important than the means. history remembers the winner as the winner, and the loser as the loser. no one cares if he/she was a gracious and righteous loser. winning is all that matters, even if it means dirty and sneaky plays. a point to note is that, even though the prize is not worth it, people by nature just likes to win.

it's a pursuit of self-interest. adam smith theory applies. economics. demand and supply. rational behaviors to maximise utility. it's a seemingly irrational game guided by the invisible hand of economics.

i could hear the popping of champage. and the silent celebration of the death of a hopeless romantic and idealist.

what you said is right.
i always want to win. i play to win.

the strongest drive/motivation of a person. sigmund freud said lust. bertrand russell said power. i used to say love.

..used to.

So I'll just post something which isn't related but somehow related to this. Nice stuff I read on the net

Watch your thoughts: They become your words.
Watch your words: They become your actions.
Watch your actions: They become your habits.
Watch your habits: They become your character.
Watch your character: It becomes your destiny.

    I'll cya when you're back then! :D

Your rather dark portrayal of the world seems to betray your disillusionment with your ideals. The sad fact is sometimes, the world is crude and harsh. Yet, you can still find warmth and kindness in it. So it is possible to perceive the world as a somewhere in between harsh realities and warm ideals. Have some expectations but don't hold them too high.

Personally, I think it is futile to identify the 'strongest' motivation. The human soul is of ethereal forms. Arranging qualities into hierarchies do not reveal much about Man. Despite their negative connotations, I am favorable to lust and power being life's motivations. After all, they can inspire wonders and beauties.

Btw, are you reading Marquez's novel?
