I am writing to state categorically my opposition to the movie the Da Vinci Code and its screening, promotions as well as distribution. In this great nation of ours, an integral part of our citizenship is "Kepercayaan kepada Tuhan", the foremost of the pillars of our Rukunegara. Also, we are a model country and our harmonious racial, cultural and religious diversity is a model that precious few other countries have successfully emulated. Tolerance, understanding and cooperation among the races and religions are the very cornerstones of our success. These were showcased, among other times, in our Government allowing the screening of The Passion of the Christ to Christians many months ago.
Now, however, Christians have to face the blasphemous challenge from the Da Vinci Code, which some erroneously term "entertainment". The movie (and the book on which it is based), obviously created by a combination of heretics and atheists, should have no place in our country. It is overt and blatant blasphemy and should be shunned by all levels of society, as were the recent infamous and blasphemous cartoon strips.
As a Christian, I believe that my Lord Jesus is the Son of God and God Himself (Gospel of John, Chapter 1, verse 1 & 14). I also believe that He was without sin and rose from the dead, undefiled, and is seated at the right Hand of God and will execute Judgment on the world at His next coming.
The book, and now the movie, though termed fiction, desecrates the very tenets of Christian faith and I take exception to both as well as to the belligerence and blatant disrespect to God shown by the movie's lead actor, Tom Hanks, in a recent talk show discussing it (the movie).
I cannot and will not take action on the actor directly, but I will pray that he will repent of his sin of blasphemy.
What I would like to appeal to our Prime Minister and our Government for, however, is that the book, the movie, all advertisments related to them, as well as all contests and promotions relating thereto be banned. I make this appeal to our leaders as one who believes in God (Re: Rukunegara), as one who is a happy citizen of Malaysia and as one who opposes this movie (and everything that glorifies it) as it is heresy as well as blasphemy disguised as "entertainment".

Most pple just cling on to their religions stubbornly without giving a second thought to their validity. In this respect, religions have immeasurable success. It takes much reason and selflessness to free oneself from the fetters of these illusions.
